Chengdu Di’ao Chemistry of Plant Co., Ltd. (Former Qingbaijiang Red Flag Chemistry of Plant Co., Ltd.), located in Qingbaijiang District,Chengdu City, was set up in 1994, the basic business was extracting Hesperidin and Synephrine from citrus genus in early years.

Based on a powerful R & D team which continuously develops novel citrus ingredients and their derivatives,  the company is now the largest manufacturer of Hesperidin in the world with annual output of about 1000mt and most professional in integrated utilization of fallen immature citrus fruits,especially of Citrus Sinensis, Citrus Reticulata and Citrus Grandis.

Since 2002,the quality system of ISO9001:2000 has been implemented. Bound with the concept of faithful service and professional innovation, the company has extended the business to the identification, development and production of active ingredients from more natural plants and supply qualified products for pharmaceutical, food, health care, cosmetic industries.

Know-how of Hesperidin

The raw materials used for extracting Hesperidin are fallen immature little citrus fruits. In China, these kinds of citrus fruits are collected by farmers who then sell it to the local traders of raw materials, the manufacturers  of hesperidin then purchase it from the traders. Since Di’ao Chemistry has been in this industry for many years and has a stable demand on raw materials every season,there have been long-term contracts between the traders of raw materials and the company. This is very important for supply of raw materials.

Now that the raw materials are fallen citrus fruits, not the mature fruits, the quantity and the quality are not guaranteed to some extent. It happens that the raw materials are applicable this season but inapplicable next year because the farmers would have had better cultivars without informing anybody, they just sell the fallen fruits as by-product with no cost. So, another work of the company’s R & D center should quickly develop new manufacturing technology for the new citrus cultivar.

Taken it for granted,manufacturing hesperidin would be a simple physical extracting which seems easier than chemical synthesis. However, there are many bioflavonoids and alkaloids in immature citrus fruits except for higher content of hesperidin, most of them are very similar in physical character, it is hard to remove them in extracting. Di’ao Chemistry is specialized in solving these difficult problems, they do know how to control the content of some bioflavnoids, how to remove some of them, even they can separate some as new commodities.
